Ex-Southampton academy star becomes AFC Portchester's top goalscorer.

Rising Stars - Bobby Scott!

A.F.C. Portchester’s Bobby Scott is one of the brightest prospects in local Non-League football.

The 24-year-old was once part of Southampton FC’s academy, but upon release has settled at Portchester, and has fired them to 7th in the Wessex League Premier Division.

A promotion push is certainly on the cards though, The Royals hold at least three games in hand over all of the teams currently above them in the table.

“I’m glad to be scoring goals. Doing what I do best. Every striker wants to score goals, and it gives you confidence when you do. So as long as I keep confident I’ll keep scoring goals,” said Scott earlier in season, having netted 22 goals in the opening 19 games of the campaign.

“In the past, people have said he’s one of the shining lights in the area,” said manager Ian Saunders, “Hence the fact he was with Southampton. For whatever reason, they just didn’t take that punt with him. We’re pleased, because he’s doing the business for us. Hopefully he makes the most of Non-League football while he’s here.”

Scott explained how his and the club’s target for the season is promotion, and a late surge up the higher reaches of the table is certainly not out of The Royals’ reach.
