Hessenthaler Keeps Eastleigh Run Going
Eastleigh manager maintains his unbeaten start
Andy Hessenthaler maintained his unbeaten record as Eastleigh manager with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Guiseley at The Silverlake Stadium.
The Spitfires now have two wins, two draws and no losses under their new boss, following Richard Hill’s move upstairs to become director of football.
An underwhelming season so far sees the club sit 15th in the National League despite a recent upturn in form, but could Hessenthaler’s influence be the boost Eastleigh have been looking for?
The club are 11 points off the play-offs with 18 games left to play, but the gap is slowly shortening. We here at Non-League South are backing them to pull it out of the bag with a late surge this season. We’d love to hear what you think
Eastleigh were quick out of the blocks against Guiseley, and took the lead in just the second minute thanks to an excellent header from Cavaghn Miley opener.
Rowan Liburd grabbed Guiseley an equaliser in the 19th minute, before Zebroski fired Eastleigh back into the lead in the 36th with his second goal in as many games.
Mark Yeates made it 3-1 when he neatly tucked the ball into bottom corner in the 58th minute, and Callum Howe was next in on the act in the 64th, also scoring in consecutive games.
James Roberts netted a consolation for the visitors from the penalty spot in the 77th minute, but Eastleigh were too far ahead for a sniff of a comeback and saw out the 4-2 triumph.
Eastleigh also saw the welcome return of midfielder Sam Togwell from the bench, who had been sidelined since October.
