Havant & Waterlooville
In 1998, the clubs Havant Town and Waterlooville merged, and began to play at Havant Town's West Leigh Park ground. The freshly merged club’s early days saw remarkable success; in their first season they won the Southern League Southern Division, and only missed out on the FA Cup first round proper on penalties.
They have since reached the first round on four occasions in their 19-year history. In the 2007/08 FA Cup, The Hawks caused a huge upset in defeating then-league one side Swansea 4-2, before facing Liverpool at Anfield in the fourth round. Phenomenally they took the lead twice, but ultimately succumbed to a 5-2 defeat.
In 2011, H&W found themselves hosting La Liga side Real Betis, after Portsmouth were unable to play a friendly they had scheduled with the Spanish side. Though The Hawks lost 7-0, it was described as a “once in a lifetime” game.
Ex-Bournemouth, Man City and Portsmouth player Lee Bradbury now stands at the helm, and the club kept faith in him after relegation from the Conference South in 2015/16. They are now back in English football’s sixth tier, having lifted the Isthmian League Premier Division title last season
