Worthing
Worthing:
Worthing Football Club was founded an astonishing 131 years ago in 1886, making the club older than most of the current football league clubs.
In 1896 The Mackerel Men became founding members of the West Sussex Football League for their first taste at competitive football, in which they were champions on seven occasions in their 24 years of competing.
Decades of up-and-down seasons would follow, coupled with the seemingly never-ending restructuring of the non-league football ladder. After relegation to the Isthmian League Division One South in 2007, the club spent nine seasons fighting its way back up, and achieved promotion back to the Isthmian League Premier Division through the play-offs in 2016, where they remain today.
